Bacon Wrapped Dates

Here’s a great appetizer that will be the hit of any holiday party!

Bacon Wrapped Dates
50 small dates
1-2 lbs of uncured, unsmoked bacon (raw all natural bacon)
smoked sea salt
fresh ground pepper
cookie sheet
parchment paper
toothpicks

Cut slices of bacon into 3rds or 4ths (depending on size) wrap each date with bacon (should cover half of the date) Place toothpick through each end of the bacon and through the date. Place on a parchment covered cookie sheet bacon side up. Once all bacon wrapped dates are place on cookie sheet. Take smoked sea salt in a grinder and take about 4-5 turns over the cookie sheet. Being sure to hit all the pieces with salt. Do the same with the pepper grinder. Please in a preheated 350 degree oven and bake for about 15 minutes. Or until bacon is cooked and crispy, be sure not to let it overcook though. Remove from pan and let them cool. These are great treats about 5 minutes out of the oven or to take to a party and reheat.

This is one of my favorites! I reccommend cutting the dates into halves or thirds if you’re stuck with big ones, and stuff half a pecan in each one.

Ruth, so sorry! just seeing this comment now… the fat in the bacon will usually keep them from drying out. Drying out usually isn’t an issue. PLUS, they aren’t too shabby at room temp!
