So, what’s this Tabata business, anyway? Dr. Izumi Tabata is a former Japanese Olympic speed-skating coach and exercise researcher. He developed the Protocol for exercise of 20 sec work/10 sec rest interval over 8 rounds for 4 minutes to increase anaerobic (vs. aerobic) capacity and to push an athlete’s VO2 max.
