The first time I walked into Ultimate CrossFit, I was terrified! I hadn’t worked out since college (and that was just the treadmill & yoga), I had just quit smoking, my cholesterol was through the roof, and my doctor seriously scared me into making some life changes, with my 30th birthday around the corner. After my fundamentals workout with B-Russ, I couldn’t walk for a week! I came casually for a couple of months and then Lance told me that I needed to be in the gym 4-5 days a week. I started coming more often and the changes I have seen in my overall well-being are extraordinary.
I am down 22 pounds, and 7.5 inches in my waist alone, and that is just since January 2010. My cholesterol has gone from 246 to 156 since July of last year, and my strength gains have been phenomenal. I can’t say enough about how CrossFit has changed my health, my confidence levels, and my life in general. The friendships that I have made at the gym extend beyond a casual wave – it truly is a community of people with each other’s best interests at heart. It’s one of my favorite things about this whole experience.
